Phil Smith, Ceo, Rhodian
Phil Smith

Chief Executive Officer

My work as CEO at Rhodian is to provide Direction, Focus, Strategy and, most importantly, a good company culture so our associates are able to thrive in their careers by finding successes providing the best technology and cybersecurity services they can for our customers.

I’ve been a senior leader at many technology companies and have experience in sales, marketing, product management, strategy and operations. Throughout my three decades of experience, I have gained an understanding of just how important providing people with outstanding technology solutions is to creating winning enterprises.

My life outside of work is spent with my wife, Dorothy, at our lakefront cottage. We love living on the water, with the opportunity to ski, tube, and take sunset cruises—but the calming scenery is the best part. We also enjoy spending time with our daughter, Claire, who has just embarked on her journey as an elementary school teacher.

Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer of Rhodian Group, my goal is to help simplify budgeting for effective IT, Cybersecurity, and Compliance services by providing our clients with a high-quality platform in a cost-efficient manner, with competitive pricing and quality service.

I have over 25 years of experience with helping grow and scale technology-focused companies. I hold an undergraduate in Business Studies with a major in Accounting and Finance from the University of Limerick, Ireland, plus an MBA fro DePaul University, Chicago. I’m also a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Outside of work, I am married and have 3 great kids. I keep busy with volunteer work, such as being on the Executive Board of KIDTOO, a non-profit focused on child protection. I also enjoy mentoring local high school students in entrepreneurship and coaching soccer for young adults with special needs.

Whether it’s Sales, Marketing, Partnerships or Customer Success, I draw on 30 years of experience managing revenue for large Technology firms with vertical focus to guide Rhodian’s growth through existing and newly envisioned industry segments. I love to build businesses and help them achieve operational excellence in an accelerated fashion.

My personal focus on the weekends includes cooking for my family, reading a good book and tackling our house downsizing project one closet at a time.

VP of Technical Operations

As VP of Technical Operations at Rhodian, I help businesses simplify the complexities that exist between them and their people.

My background in Management Information Systems, Systems Engineering and consulting for a variety of industries has helped me to build the capacity to help Rhodian clients navigate the sometimes perilous ocean of challenges. This allows me to leverage my experience to serve as a compass to help people get to where they want to go.

On a personal note, I am an avid reader I have likely read several hundred books and I have written more than 20 books on philosophy and power. I play the piano and I like traditional jazz music. I love swimming and walking for exercise. While I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, I am well-traveled. When the opportunity presents itself, I especially enjoy my vacations on the beach.

Director of Client Success

As the Director of Client Success, I am fortunate enough to work directly with our awesome clients. My team works as our clients’ advocates, problem solvers, and “quarterbacks” to work with our internal partners to ensure that our clients have the best experience possible. My team develops strong relationships with our clients by being empathetic, proactive, and accessible.

Before joining Rhodian Group in January 2023, I spent over 20 years in higher education in a variety of roles including admissions, student support, financial aid and retention. One of my life’s passions is coaching and playing soccer. I have coached all ages which helped me to understand how to have fun as well as being a mentor and friend. All that experience has brought me to Rhodian with a keen sense of humor, genuine care for people and their successes, and I thrive in challenging and rewarding environments.

Outside of work, I live with my family in Kalispell, MT near Glacier National Park and Flathead Lake. My hobbies include trying out new recipes weekly, spending time with my 2 Goldendoodles and watching movies in my home theater.
